Speciation offers analytical services and equipment to support the
quantitation of trace element and metalloid speciation analysis of
groundwater sources. The importance of proper documentation,
including administrative and quality control, is imperative to
ensuring the quality and representativeness of the data.
Groundwater can be considerably more complex than routine drinking
water or river water samples due to the interaction with the soil.
While total element analysis is fairly straightforward for most
groundwater samples metalloid speciation analyses can be quite
complicated. Depending on the ambient conditions of the groundwater
the dissolved oxygen, oxidation-reduction potential, and solubility
of compounds can change significantly during the sampling, shipment,
and storage of the samples. Due to the complexity of many
groundwater systems a single approach for preserving the molecular
integrity of the samples is not appropriate. Our project managers
and scientists are knowledgeable and experienced with the different
options for field preservation associated with trace element and
metalloid speciation analyses to maximize the probability of project
success.
As cleanup requirements for groundwater become more stringent the
importance of identifying and quantifying possible sources of
contamination cannot be understated. Applied Speciation specially
cleans all sampling equipment released for sample collection and can
certify the background of the equipment prior to application in the
field.
